
Our practice saw 25 unattended appointments in one day alone last Saturday…
This brought the total “no shows” to 112 for the month of April. At the same time, others are waiting weeks to get see someone.
The cost to us all is quite obvious, so please make sure that if you have an appointment, you put on the calendar and in the diary. If you need to cancel it, please just call the Surgery to let them know so someone in need can benefit.
A recent article in the Yorkshire Post sited a leading Doctor as suggesting a £10 fine for missed appts as this not only costs the NHS on avg £39 per appt, but it also prevents other patients being seen and extends the average waiting time to see a GP. The article then goes onto say that the culmination of all missed UK appts since Jan could pay for a further 2000 full time nurses- so something needs to be done to improve attendance rates.
