Transport Options

Mashamshire Community Office are looking for Volunteer Drivers to help provide affordable transport for Health & Wellbeing Appointments

Access to transport is a significant challenge, particularly when attending essential health appointments or getting to key services.

Even those with a car often can’t drive after treatment or aren’t confident enough to get to health appointments in Middlesborough, Redcar, York, Leeds or Harrogate, which are very common health destinations when living in Mashamshire. Others are so fiercely independent that they hate to ask friends or neighbours for a lift.  And commercial transport options are either unaffordable or infrequent.

This long-recognised issue for Masham and the surrounding rural area is even more important as core services move further afield.

MCO continues to lobby for our community and come up with solutions.  Check below for our current offering…

Support Our Work

The scheme is largely unfunded.  It was set up using MCO funds and with a lot of volunteer help.  It is already making a big difference to people, but it operates at a loss and keeping it going in the current climate will be challenging.  If you would like to help by making a donation, it could make a real difference.
