Under-5’s Fortnight at Masham Community Library

13 Apr 2026

As part of the National Year of Reading, Under-5s Fortnight is a wonderful opportunity for young children and their families to explore the fantastic resources available at Masham Community Library and others across our region.

This initiative shines a light on the year-round support that your local library can offer to children and young families, from helpful books on pregnancy and those early years, to exciting children’s stories that inspire imagination, adventure, and a lifelong love of reading. Remember, you can order books in if we don’t have exactly what you are looking for and you can also gain access to digital materials with your library card via the North Yorkshire Library App.

Here at Masham Community Library, we provide a weekly Storytime with Acorns Pre-School and Masham Primary School. A great way to get children excited about books and build connections within the community. Hosted by our library volunteer Kay, we hear the buzz of excitement as the children arrive and lots of laughter throughout.

🐝 Special Event This Under-5’s Fortnight:
• Buzzy Bee’s Honey Hunt – a FREE, fun-filled reading activity for under-5s.
• Libraries are welcoming, inclusive spaces where children can grow their language skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of reading from the very start.
