Support New Ideas

Supporting new ideas is one of our goals. If you have an idea but you’re not sure how to start making it a reality, get in touch. We don’t pretend to have it all covered – it’s great to have some “blue sky” thinking! Whether you need signposting or connecting to the right people, or you need help with research from our Community Librarians, come and see us.
We certainly don’t have the resources to do it all, but… we do know how to get things moving – who to speak to, how to organise, how to get communications out and if funding is needed, we might have ideas about who and how.
If you have an idea...
…and if there’s something you really care about, something you think you could do locally, talk to us and maybe we can help you get it off the ground.
Whatever you care about – from reducing carbon emissions and plastic waste, to improving the look and feel of where we live; from providing activities for young people, to doing something to alleviate loneliness in our community. If it benefits our community, we want to hear about it and help you, or your group, make it happen.

Here’s just a few of the projects we’ve made happen in the past:
- We raised funds to buy our building and secure it as an asset for the people of Mashamshire, providing a home for Acorns Pre-School, the Community Library and Masham Parish Council.
- Spearheaded the campaign for the MASHAM A1 sign
- Brought the Post Office van to Masham when our Post Office closed
- Mobilised a team of volunteers to support the Ripon Racecourse Covid vaccination centre
- Arranged for installation and training in the Defib machine in the Little Market Place
- Established weekly wellbeing walks to get people moving and chatting in the open air
- Developed a Welcome Pack for new residents in Masham including our “How Masham Ticks” leaflets to explain who does what and how to access resources in Masham
- Launched a schedule of “Social Outings” to get people out and about, in partnership with Heck and using their community minibus
We care because you care and none of this would have been possible without the passion, drive, determination and dedication of our community volunteers and the people who live here.
