What We Do

At the Mashamshire Community Office we are always finding ways to help the whole community to thrive. Because we all are interdependent – from residents to community groups and local businesses – we are all integral to the local economy.
Although we are not part of a statutory Local Council provision or the Parish Council, we work with them and many other organisations to help you find the best way to get the help or information you need. The work we do is only possible thanks to over 8,000 unpaid hours of volunteering every year.
We serve our community, visitors and businesses by providing:
- A central source of reliable information – whether by email, social media, face to face or word of mouth; we inform residents, visitors, community groups and local businesses. If we can’t help, we usually know someone who can.
- A hub – to enable collaboration and partnerships in Mashamshire. We connect people, organisations and groups, so we can work better and achieve more together – from fundraising to buying our building, getting new ideas off the ground and launching new events.
- A voice – that speaks up for the interests of our rural community to other outside bodies. Our voice is heard because we have worked hard to connect with organisations within and outside Mashamshire.
Our Services Include...

By securing our building as an asset for the community in 2023, we are able to carry on providing a range of services and activities which continue to grow.
We can also keep providing low-cost venues for Acorns Pre-School, Masham Parish Council, and the Community Library.
